Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, 2006/09/17 - Premier India Football Academy (PIFA) will now have NIKE Footballs for the Skills Competition & the upcoming PIFA-Bobby Charlton Soccer & Sports Academy football camp in India
The 2nd edition of the PIFA Skills contest will help recognise young talented football players. The contest will be held on 30 September 2006 at the Cooperage Football ground in Mumbai, the contest will commence at 8 am.
The players will be tested on the 5 aspects of the game - Shooting, Dribbling, Short Pass, Lofted Pass & Ball Control.
Children will be given handicaps according to their age in the form of time and distance. These tests have been adopted from the Bobby Carlton Soccer & Sports Academy, Manchester, UK, where Beckham's record of 1100 points is still unbroken.
The top 2 winners will get 4 days free training at the upcoming Bobby Charlton Soccer & Sports Academy football camp to be held at St Andrews, Bandra from 15-18 October. The winners will also get a full NIKE training kit that would include jerseys, shorts, socks, boot, shoe, cap, bag and accessories.
Nike will also supply the balls for the contest as well as the camps.
Last year, over 350 children participated in the contest. The 2 winners Rolfred Couthino of St Puis X and Ajay Kajania of Holy Name tied winners with 800 points. Both of them attended the Bobby Charlton camps at St Andrews, Bandra after which they were selected for Mahindra United U-15 team.
Entry will be free and open to boys & girls from 8-16 years of age. All children will have to be in full football attire.

The PIFA- Bobby Charlton Soccer & Sports Academy football camp will be the 3rd camp in India. 2 camps will be held in Mumbai 15-18 Oct at St Andrews School, Bandra, 19-23 Oct at The Retreat, Marve & 23-27 Oct at Sharad Pawar International School, Pune.
