Tucson, AZ, United States, 2011/02/15 - The heartbeat of the new Casino Del Sol Hotel & Conference Center in Tucson, Ariz., continues to get stronger as the opening approaches on 11/11/11.
A topping off ceremony involving the placement of the new hotel’s dome was held on Feb. 9 and included McCarthy team members, the casino’s executive management team, the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council, Tribal Elders and local elected officials.
“We are more than excited about the progress of the hotel, and the dome placement signifies much of the outside work has been completed and is on target for our grand opening on 11/11/11, ’’ said Wendell Long, Sol Casinos CEO. “Now that the dome has been placed on top of the hotel, we will continue to work on the inside of the structure. It is going to be an eye-pleasing hotel and a pleasant experience for our guests. It will be simply spectacular.”
He adds, “The project has gone great. We are ahead of schedule and below budget. And in just nine months, we will have a wonderful and beautiful addition to our already stunning casino. There will be nothing like it in Arizona.”
The dome’s unique design and opulence is in line and consistent with the current style and flair of Casino Del Sol. The dome is 26 feet in diameter and 26 feet tall and weighs 11,000 pounds. It is built out of perforated copper and features color-changing LED lighting inside. The perforation allows the light to be visible at night but have a copper look during the day.
Once completed this fall, the new Casino Del Sol Hotel & Conference Center will add 215 luxury hotel rooms to the market along with a conference center that can accommodate 1,500 in performance and theatrical configurations or up to 800 for dining configurations. The expanded facility will also feature a fine dining steakhouse with seating up to 100, an international buffet with seating up to 250, a lobby lounge and bar, a fully equipped exercise facility with full service spa, an outdoor pool and sundeck and a 1,120 car multi-level protected parking structure. The project was designed by Phoenix-based Leo A. Daly.
