Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia, 2011/02/10 - Subaru achieved an impressive all-time sales record of 40,025 units sold in 2010. Their best-selling vehicles include the Impreza, Forester, Outback, Liberty and Tribeca.
2010 has proven to be a productive year for Subaru.
Subaru achieved an all-time sales record of 40,025 units in 2010, which represents an increase of 9.6% from 2009 and equates to 3.9% market share.
This is the 12th all-time sales record in the last 13 years for Subaru, which is remarkable for a company that takes pride in marketing its uniqueness that includes the All-Wheel Drive, Boxer engines and Symmetrical drive train.
Other notable highlights include record sales for Impreza and Forester. Subaru’s Forester dominated the Compact SUV sector with 14,644 units sold. This represents an increase of 6.5% from the previous year.
According to Nick Senior, Managing Director of Subaru Australia, “This result marks our 12th sales record of the last 13 years and again reinforces that our focus on our differences continues to resonate with consumers.
“Nowhere is this more amply demonstrated than in the Compact SUV category where the Forester has been the top seller for the third consecutive year.
“Despite the ever increasing competition from new entrants and two-wheel drive variants in this segment, this shows that Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive remains a valuable alternative for Australian drivers looking for real driving enjoyment and safety.”
The Impreza also proved to be a popular choice among consumers with 12,289 units sold.
“The last decade has been an evolution at Subaru. We’ve continued to adapt to our customers, launching our most successful models yet and have taken the brand to new levels of sophistication, performance and safety and this is set to continue with a host of new products in 2011.
“This year will also see further sales growth and a continued commitment to our customer-centric All 4 the Driver philosophy”, Senior added.
Other units with increased sales were the Outback with 55.2% and the Liberty with 11.8%. The Tribeca also performed well with an annual sales of 1,123.
Subaru of America also enjoyed a record sales year in 2010 with an all-time sales record of 263,820 units – a 22% increase from 2009.
