Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,300 hospitals in the United States, announced that Decatur County Memorial Hospital won the 2010 Pharmacist Intervention Challenge with the most interventions per hospital bed.
"The pharmacists’ documentation of all clinical activity has helped us to create and retain FTEs for our department over the years - even when productivity consultants were brought in to our facility, " said Denise Fields, Director of Pharmacy at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. "A lot of pharmacies can't quantify all of the different services that they are involved with because they either don't track them or the system they use for tracking isn't efficient. Quantifi allows my pharmacists to document interventions in an efficient manner, has improved the trending of data in our facility for many different processes, and it has become a vital communication tool for our department. My staff would not want to work without it."
Quantifi, Pharmacy OneSource’s clinical communication and documentation tool, is used by more than 50,000 healthcare professionals who documented $689 million in savings through interventions in 2010. Quantifi captures both the actual dollar savings via reduction in supply costs and potential costs savings through risk avoidance.
"At Pharmacy OneSource we are passionate about supporting the growth and development of pharmacy practice. The healthcare environment is shifting to an accountable care system that will focus on team-based care that drives improved patient outcomes. The Pharmacy OneSource challenge captured thousands of examples of pharmacists working hard each and every day across the U.S. to make a difference in patient care, " said Steve Riddle, BS Pharm, BCPS, FASHP, VP of Clinical Affairs for Pharmacy OneSource.
Pharmacy OneSource is proud to partner with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in support of the organization’s new Pharmacy Practice Model Initiative (PPMI). For reaching more than $600 million of documented savings due to clinical pharmacy interventions across all hospital clients, Pharmacy OneSource donated an additional $2,500 to the PPMI.
With more than 1,000 hospitals across the world having used Quantifi to capture more than 34 million clinical interventions, adverse events and adverse drug reactions, Pharmacy OneSource can readily demonstrate the value of pharmacy services to hospital leaders.
