The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of advanced graphical user interface technology, has been recognized in the 2011 Florida Companies to WatchSM program, which honors privately held second-stage companies that are headquartered in the state of Florida. Of over 300 companies nominated, DiSTI was chosen among only 50 state-wide finalists for its rapid advancements in virtual maintenance training technology, exceptional employee and job development, and sustainable profitability.
The unique awards program with Florida Companies to Watch focuses on second-stage companies and the wide-ranging industries they represent. To be eligible for this title, applicants must retain between six and 99 full-time employees, as well as have an annual revenue that ranges from $750,000 to $50 million. Awardees are selected for demonstrating the intent and capacity to grow based on employee or sales growth, exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, sustainable competitive advantage and for any other notable strengths.
DiSTI’s company culture that promotes equality and collaborative efforts among employees was evident in 2009 when their annual revenue increased by 35 percent, allowing DiSTI to create numerous top-tier level jobs. DiSTI’s unmatched innovations in graphical user interface technology provide customers in any industry the high-fidelity and high-performance graphical computing solutions they need. Among its many contributions, DiSTI is a member of several organizations that strive to wholly support U.S. Armed Forces, including the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), the Army Aviation Association (AAAA) and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), to name a few.
“We are honored to be recognized by the Florida Companies to Watch program. We appreciate a program that celebrates small and mid-sized businesses whose hard work and commitment to sustainability contribute greatly to the local economy,” said Joe Swinski, President and CEO of DiSTI.
The impact of these companies on Florida’s economy is immense, and this year’s honorees are examples of such companies. Only 6 percent of Florida’s resident establishments were in the second-stage category, but those companies generated more than 31 percent of net new jobs in the state.
Florida Companies to Watch finalists will be formally recognized at an awards gala on Thursday, February 17 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. This honor is presented by GrowFL, the Florida Economic Gardening Institute at the University of Central Florida and funded by the state of Florida, with ACG Florida, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation.
