The project aims at improving customer service, reducing the stock of daughter slabs and optimizing the slab supply. The capacity planning, due-date promising, and master-scheduling functions will be covered by the implementation of the Material Flow Coordinator (MFC), while the detailed scheduling of the quarto mill will be handled by BetaPlanner. Another major part of the project is the replacement of the former plate and slab-design expert system. The new system will optimize the mother slab cutting and the mother plate combination of customer plates. This nesting optimization will be done by the SteelPlanner PIANO module.
Mr. Monseu, Logistic Director of Duferco Clabecq says: “Duferco Clabecq was looking for a global IT solution to improve its supply-chain management. AIS was selected due to the fact that with their long experience of supply-chain IT developments in the steel industry, the proposed solution was the best suitable for our requirements. This project is for us mainly customer-oriented, we want to improve our customer service with a better promise performance”.
With the implementation of the selected modules, Duferco Clabecq will have a complete and integrated dynamic supply-chain management solution that will provide a fast and reliable picture of the status of orders and available capacities. It will also provide Duferco with a flexible solution that can adapt to changing market conditions.
