Fort Worth, TX, United States, 2006/09/05 - Starr Tincup begins training for triathlon to help fund blood cancer research, education, and patient services.
Starr Tincup, an integrated marketing firm that serves software and services companies through customer selection, acquisition and retention, marked the beginning of its participation in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training (TNT) program with a three-mile training run on Sept. 2.
Seven members of the Starr Tincup team are participating in the TNT program, which is the world’s largest endurance sports training program. The athletes participating in the event as part of the Team in Training program raise funds to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fight leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The Starr Tincup team’s goal is to complete the Olympic-distance Lavaman Triathlon, which includes a 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run, in Kona, Hawaii on April 1, 2007.
“Are we crazy to expect our team to complete a triathlon? Sure,” said Bret Starr, principal and co-founder of Starr Tincup. “But we are going to work together to achieve our individual and personal goals while also improving the quality of life for our employees and for at least a few of the people living with these cancers. We really can’t lose.”
