MSTAR, one of Utah’s largest and fastest-growing fiber-optic service providers, and the mtn. MountainWest Sports Network today announced they are teaming up to deliver the full action and excitement of Mountain West Conference (MWC) athletics to fans in Utah when the new network launches on September 1 on channel 40 on MSTAR.
“We’re just delighted to be able to provide our customers with the content they want,” said Ben Gould, president and chief executive officer of MSTAR. “We are proud to be among the first to carry the mtn and give our viewers more Mountain West action, from the very beginning of the new season.”
The mtn., the Mountain West Conference’s new regional network, will be added to MSTAR’s Digital Select and Digital Premier television channel lineups. The new channel will give fans access to more BYU, University of Utah and MWC athletics than has ever been offered before across 19 different conference sports, including at least 30 football games, 75 men's basketball games, women's basketball games, conference championships, and men's and women's Olympic sports, such as swimming and diving, soccer, and tennis. The mtn. will also carry press conferences, coaches' shows, pep rallies, and feature stories on athletes and coaches.
“We are pleased to welcome MSTAR as an inaugural distribution partner and bring their viewers a deeper array of MWC athletics, including Utah and BYU, than has ever been available in the past,” said Kim Carver, vice president and general manager of the mtn.
Supplemental MWC coverage, including selected football and basketball games, will appear on CSTV (channel 39) and OLN (channel 33), which will be changing its name to Versus in September, 2006. In addition there will also be some games early in the season on FSN, channel 23, and TBS, channel 151.
The mtn. is available to cable and satellite providers throughout the nation and is owned by Comcast and CSTV, and managed by Comcast SportsNet. The new network allows conference teams to play at fan-friendly times to better serve teams and fans alike.
