Singer/Songwriter Lucinda has been chosen to compete in the Rock Solid Pressure Showcase 2006, the coolest concert event of Rocktober, taking place at 2:00 PM EST on Saturday, October 7th at Lillian’s, 215 East Main Street, Lakeland, Florida.
Lucinda, along with her special guests Michael Connolly and Tommy Nagy, will compete against some of the nation’s best unsigned bands: The Siri Syal Band, 3 Kisses, The West Fifties, Rumors of War, Made for the Silver Screen, Berwick, Madadam, Shades of Dust, Overlord, Tug, The Raygun Girls, Unkempt, Roda, Someday Souvenir, Feedback, Pale Horse, and Perdiem. Lucinda’s performance will be captured by Subliminal Productions for a DVD documentary of Rock Solid Pressure Showcase 2006.
According to the event web site, judges for this year’s Rock Solid Pressure Showcase are A&R pros Ken Krongard and Paula Moore; John Galt Entertainment’s Jeffrey Pringle; Assistant Director of the Lakeland Center Arena, Scott Sloman; President of C.E.D. Entertainment (a division of Red/Sony BMG) Steve Lane; President/CEO of City Canyons Records Trevor Lloyd; and many more. Sponsors of the event include Daisy Rock Guitars, Ibenez, The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, WH Productions, and Sam Ash.
Past participants in the annual Rock Pressure Showcase include Ten 13 Concept, as seen on America’s Got Talent; Heather Luttrell of Rock Star INXS; Rock Star Supernova’s Josh Logan; and Theressa Rupert, who competed in Oprah Winfrey’s 2004 Pop Star Challenge.
With a voice as strong as any female singer of today, Lucinda says she’s not trying to out-diva the likes of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, or Janet Jackson. Instead, she hopes to capture the hearts and ears of a sophisticated adult audience that is into Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt, and Sheryl Crow.
Lucinda’s new CD Aquamarine will be released this fall. Details of the launch party, scheduled for October, will be announced soon.
Out of all her accomplishments, Lucinda is most excited about her work with LIFEbeat’s Hearts and Voices program. According to the organization’s website, “Lifebeat’s Hearts and Voices program brings the gift of live music to thousands of people living with AIDS at facilities throughout New York City including hospitals, hospices, residential facilities, and treatment centers. Every week, talented musicians from all musical genres volunteer their time to play shows for the most appreciative of audiences…Celebrity performers who have participated include Destiny's Child, LL Cool J, Edwin McCain, Jewel, Ethan Hawke, City High, John Secada, and Floetry, among others.”
