For Dummies, the internationally acclaimed series of books that simplify a myriad of complex technologies and subjects for consumers, announced today that it will release six different models of GPS Navigation For Dummies™ to the market in India in February 2011. GPS Navigation For Dummies is a state-of-the-art personal navigation product that ensures its owners need never become lost again. The product was developed by Wiley Publishing, Inc., owner of the For Dummies brand, in partnership with the Maylong Group, a Detroit, Michigan-area technology company. HiQuest, Inc., based in San Ramon, California, is working with distributors in India for placement at auto dealers and auto equipment retailers, electronics stores Spice and Reliance, and other retail channels.
"We are thrilled to be launching the GPS For Dummies brand in another new market. The India market represents a great opportunity for GPS For Dummies. The brand has proven to resonate all around the globe with our current distribution in India, Australia, South Africa, Europe and soon in Brazil and China." said David Valade, President of the Maylong Group. "Wiley has been a great partner as we have continued to extend the global reach of the For Dummies brand in our GPS products. We look forward to a very successful product launch in India that is now the 6th largest auto market in the world and growing."
Traditionally focused on book publishing, the For Dummies brand has more recently been successfully extending its reach into digital and online products. Among many recent and upcoming digital product releases from the For Dummies brand are the service-based Tech Support For Dummies (techsupportfordummies.com); a re-vamped and re-launched Dummies.com website full of useful free videos, tips and tricks; the upcoming e-Learning Kits For Dummies series which will combine books and online workshops to create a fun and stimulating learning experience; and a number of For Dummies iPhone apps including Basic Spanish For Dummies, Selecting a Wine For Dummies, and many more.
Wiley and Maylong have worked closely together on the GPS Navigation For Dummies devices with the objective of designing the easiest-to-use interface on the market. The partners have made the interface more intuitive than competing brands’, created new icons, and added tools to make everything extremely straight-forward and easy to use.

"Together we are empowering GPS users to get the knowledge they crave in the fastest, easiest way possible: The Dummies Way™," noted noted Marc Mikulich, VP of Brand Management and International Rights. "In less than three years, GPS Navigation For Dummies has been the #3 best-selling brand in this category in the USA. So we are delighted that Maylong is now extending the program into the Indian Market, which has known and loved the Dummies brand for nearly 20 years.”
