Shermco Industries, an industry leader in electrical safety, maintenance and repair, has recently ascended to number 23 on the Dallas Business Journal’s Dallas 100 Fastest Growing Companies list.

The company has grown its employee base by more than 30 percent in 2010, due in part to its acquisitions of Coastal Switchgear & Controls based in Angleton, Texas and ESCO Energy Services based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, both being companies that specialize in electrical equipment repairs, maintenance, testing, and engineering services. The strategic move expanded the company’s reach and services to the greater Gulf Coast and central United States regions.

Shermco also opened new service centers in Sweetwater and Austin, Texas. Sweetwater will support the wind power and industrial segments of West Texas and Austin will support Shermco’s activities in the central and south Texas regions. Additionally, Shermco purchased 31 acres of land in Irving, Texas on which to build a larger, 150,000-250,000 square foot headquarter facility with completion by 2015.

“Shermco has been in an expansion mode for the past several years,” said Ron Widup, Shermco Industries president. “In addition to serving our base of industrial and municipal clients with electrical maintenance, testing, safety and repair services, we’ve become very well known in the past five years in the wind industry and in the area of electrical disaster recovery services.”

Widup says, the company has restructured its management and strategically hired over the past several months to gear up for continued expansion in 2011. Peter A. Sherman, formerly president of Shermco Industries, became CEO. Widup was promoted to president from executive vice president/GM. Thad Brown was promoted to vice president/GM. Pat Beisert was moved up to vice president of production. Mike Moore became vice president of sales; Scott Meador, vice president of business development; Mark Pustejovsky, ESD production manager; Julia Sykes, insurance and risk manager. Chris McGowan was hired as the company’s controller.

“We are ready for 2011 and well beyond. This should be a very good decade for Shermco,” said Widup.
