Apriso, a leading provider of software solutions for sustained manufacturing operational excellence, today announced one of its customers, L’Oréal, has won two manufacturing excellence awards, directly attributable to the company’s implementation of FlexNet as a global platform for manufacturing operations management. L’Oréal, the world’s leading cosmetics company, earned both the Organizer’s Strategic Manufacturing Award as well as the Operational Excellence Award at the 6th Annual European Manufacturing Strategies Summit, held October 20, 2010 in Swissôtel Düsseldorf, Germany.
L’Oréal had lofty goals to improve agility, reduce costs, cut waste, increase operational performance and improve IT efficiency on a global scale. With 19 sites now live and four scheduled for 2011, L’Oréal became an award winner by accomplishing these objectives with “ISIS,” a project that simultaneously implemented a company-wide ERP (SAP) and Manufacturing Operations Management (Apriso) solution for a globally consistent IT infrastructure supporting multiple processes and disciplines.
“By implementing Apriso’s FlexNet as a global platform for manufacturing operations, L’Oréal has successfully expanded the results from our Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement programs. It is now faster and easier to deploy and improve best practices across all of our plants,” said Jacques Playe, CIO of Operations at L’Oréal.
Playe continued, “Our Apriso solution has been instrumental in driving sustained cultural change by delivering expanded visibility to operational intelligence as a ‘collaborative intelligence’ platform, helping us to improve our Group OEE from 50 to 60 percent – a 10 point improvement – across 20 plants in just two and a half years. We are now targeting an OEE performance threshold of 70 percent for all plants in less than two years. We could not have accomplished such a wide reaching accomplishment this fast, nor would we have won these awards, if we had not first built our platform-based Apriso solution.”
“We are delighted that L’Oréal continues to be recognized and awarded for their outstanding performance achievements by embracing an enterprise approach to manufacturing excellence,” said Jim Henderson, president and CEO of Apriso. “With a global, collaborative approach to process improvement, we expect L’Oréal to continue to achieve improved results for years to come.”
