His Excellency Engineer Omar Al Kurdi, Jordan’s Minister of IT and Communications (MOICT) visited the headquarters of STS, the country’s leading integrated IT solutions provider, recently. The tour was part of a series of ministerial visits organized by the Information Technology Association (int[.]j) to its members primarily in the IT and telecommunications industry. During his visit, the minister was briefed by Humam Mufti, General Manager of STS, about the company’s activities and future plans.
Mufti highlighted the company’s successes since its inception, its role in pushing forward the Kingdom’s IT sector in recent years and its significant contribution to e-governmental initiatives. He also confirmed the company’s high level of HR expertise brought in by the large pool of qualified IT experts who subscribe to the government’s vision of turning the Kingdom into an important IT hub in the Middle East.
Mufti said: “Our company is honoured to receive His Excellency and to help him further his knowledge of the products and services that we deliver to our clients. We will strive our utmost to achieve the government’s vision and improve the level of services for this sector.”
The Minister was briefed on the products and solutions offered by STS, which is one of Jordan’s biggest IT companies, and all its achievements. STS officials explained the company’s objectives and perspectives vis-a-vis governmental policy for the IT sector. Al Kurdi reiterated his government’s support for the IT and telecom sector, given the major influence it has on all economic growth and social communication and Jordan’s overall business and investment environment. The Minister also praised STS’ efforts in training IT specialists towards upgrading the reservoir of the country’s IT manpower.
Mufti welcomed MOICT’s progressive policies that have contributed to the effective development of the IT sector, which has emerged as the mainstay of Jordan’s economy. “IT is today a major player in the domestic economy, having generated a large number of direct and indirect employment opportunities. We will continue to contribute towards the development of this sector and fulfill the aspirations of our clients by providing them with high-quality solutions that optimise their Return on Investment,” he said.
