Scott Meador, vice president of Shermco Industries, an industry leader in electrical safety, maintenance and repair for wind energy systems, will moderate a presentation and discussion on “Lockout/Tagout” at the American Wind Energy Association Health & Safety Workshop at the Renaissance Austin Hotel in Austin, Texas, Oct. 27 from 10:15 am. – 12:15 pm.
The presentation will provide attendees a unique opportunity to examine and learn from others’ LOTO procedures, and compare with their current programs. Following the presentation, a distinguished panel of wind industry professionals will discuss the applicability of OSHA’s LOTO requirements to the wind industry, the challenges of implementing the standard and how modifying the standard can meet the industry’s needs.
“Whether it’s routine maintenance or emergency repair, having proper procedures in place when shutting down and restarting machines and equipment is imperative to a safe working environment,” said Meador. “Hopefully, this presentation and discussion will help more wind system operators continue to work toward an exemplary and compliant safety program.”
