Raleigh, NC, United States, 2010/10/07 - Joseph E. “Joe” Cobb Jr., senior formulations scientist at Metrics, Inc., has earned the highly respected Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional™ (CPIP™) credential.
Awarded by the ISPE Professional Certification Commission, the CPIP credential is the only competency-based international certification for pharmaceutical professionals. It holds those who qualify to a global competency standard through demonstrated education, experience and a rigorous examination.
“Through their work and research, Metrics employees continually strive to advance scientific knowledge and understanding,” said Phil Hodges, president of Metrics Inc. “Their commitment to good science is reflected by their desire to exceed industry expectations and standards – just like Joe has done by earning CPIP certification. I congratulate Joe on his impressive achievement.”
As senior formulations scientist, Cobb manages all aspects of projects at Metrics that involve early-phase solid oral dosage development. Some of those projects involve novel delivery systems such as rapid-dissolve technologies, modified release tablets and multi-particulate applications.
With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Cobb joined Metrics in 2002, where he oversees formulation development, scale-up and commercial process validation for new drug application (NDA) and investigational new drug application (IND) submissions.
The holder of a U.S. patent for a pharmaceutical application, Cobb has authored several posters presented during annual conferences of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He received his bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering from The Ohio State University.
