The committee is designed to recognize educational institutions and training programs that demonstrate a clear understanding of the core skills needed to be a wind turbine service technician.
“Serving on the first AWEA Seal of Approval Review Committee is a great honor,” said Mike Moore. “Perhaps the greatest honor, however, is being part of a system that continually helps further the wind energy industry by providing necessary measurements to qualify professionals that operate within this young and growing technological environment.”
The committee will judge eligible Seal of Approval programs based on criteria derived from AWEA’s Wind Turbine Service Technician Core Skill Set. This skill set was developed in an 18 month long collaborated effort with AWEA members. How well a program meets each skill set will determine whether or not a program is approved for the AWEA Seal of Approval.
Graduates of programs with the AWEA Seal of Approval will have been taught and exposed to the skills deemed vital for a practicing wind turbine service technician.
