Hytec’s hour-long webinar, which takes place on Wednesday 22 September at 11am, is dedicated to helping NHS trusts and other organisations that interact with the NHS understand the requirements of version 8 of the IG Toolkit (IGT). It will be presented by Hytec’s Senior Information Assurance Consultant, Robin Ingram, who has worked closely with Connecting for Health and the Department of Health for several years, providing them with feedback gained by helping organisations through the IGT process.
Mr Ingram said: “Since its release many have described version 8 as more rigorous than its predecessors. With organisations required to go into greater depth and provide more evidence about their policies, procedures and processes, many are finding it more challenging and time-consuming to complete.
“We decided to help take away trust’s headaches by hosting a dedicated webinar to explain the requirements of the IG Toolkit v8, and help them take the first steps towards completing their submissions.”
The webinar will start with a brief overview on how to complete version 8 of the IG Toolkit; the main focus, however, will be on the material changes within the requirements; specifically:
• Information governance management – including the IG management framework, partners and support and awareness and training
• Confidentiality and data protection assurance – including consent and offshore access
• Information security assurance – including secure networks
All health organisations and others that interact with the NHS must submit their IGT version 8 assessments by 31 March 2011. In addition, health trusts and Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) must submit their Baseline and Performance Update submissions by 31 October 2010.
