A Live Comedy Showcase to take place at Pasadena’s Ice House Comedy Club, the landmark that catapulted the careers of George Lopez, Dana Carvey, Lily Tomlin, Billie Crystal and many more. This showcase of some of LA’s Top Comedians will take place on August 24, 2006 in the Main Room, from 8:00pm to 10:00 pm. Tickets are $14.50 and reservations are suggested.
The line-up includes Alycia Cooper, of Last Comic Standing and The Steve Harvey Morning Show; political pundit, Evan Sayet; Edwin San Juan, winner of UPN’s The Talent Agency; Gayla Johnson of BET’s Comic View; and Jeff Garcia, named one of Variety’s Top 10 Comedians to Watch, as well as the voice of Pip in Nickelodeon’s summer blockbuster, The Barnyard. Surprise guests are also slated to appear.
In an effort to cultivate its increasingly popular Stand-Up section, StupidVideos.com has sponsored numerous live events at The Ice House in conjunction with H2F, including Uncle Clyde’s Comedy Contest, LA’s longest running comedy competition that seeks out “New Faces”. Furthermore, StupidVideos.com has also licensed footage from celebrity comics, such as Margaret Cho, Ron White, Martin Short, John Candy, and Lenny Bruce, to provide its five million monthly unique users with a range of classic comedy content, while continuing to promote user-submitted clips.
“I have had over 75,000 views on StupidVideos. Unlike sites like YouTube where your clips get lost in a sea of others, on StupidVideos you actually get a chance to be seen by the world. I have had over 75,000 views on the site and use it to book gigs,” said Terell Battle, a comedian whose performance at Uncle Clyde’s Comedy Contest is featured on StupidVideos.com/.
Comics and other performing artists are increasingly using viral video to market themselves. “StupidVideos has proven to be a powerful resource because of its ability to drive significant viewership to individuals who might otherwise get lost in the clutter of other sites,” added Erik Hawkins, CEO and Co-Founder.
Footage covering The Live Comedy Showcase will be available on StupidVideos.com, following the live event.
