Including total range replacements to the Karat, Chrono and GLE Series, the new range features additions to the Chrono SL range, a whole new range of subwoofers and improvements across the 5.1 Movie packages.
Karat Series – High-end speaker range with slim facing profile
Implementing trickle-down technology from the Reference range, the new Karat Series receives a total refresh. The floorstanding models (790.2 DC (£2,399.99) and 770.2 DC (£1899.99)) come with new cabinet designs that are shorter and deeper than the outgoing models yet retain the same slim front profile. Acoustic tuning based on the company’s award-winning Reference range cross-over design and implementation of the wave roll surround and motor assemblies to the bass drive units, represent a real improvement to the performance. The 720.2 DC (£749.99) stand-mount and 755.2 DC Centre (£499.99) complete the series line up utilising the same cross-over and drive unit technology.
All Karat products are available in white, titanium or black high gloss finishes.
Chrono SL Series – mid-priced speaker range with chrome design features and high-gloss finishes
A highlight of the new model launch, the SL570 (£1299.99) is a new floorstanding speaker that adds room friendly dimensions and a 2 ½ way design to the already established Chrono SL Series. A new driver arrangement adds improved omnidirectionality and off-axis response.
All Chrono SL products are available in white or black high gloss finishes.
Chrono Series – affordable speaker range with chrome design features
Three floorstanders (509.2 DC (£1299.99), 508.2 DC (£1049.99) and 507.2 (£899.99)), two stand-mounts (503.2 (£599.99), 502.2 (£499.99)), a centre (505.2 Centre (£299.99)) and on-wall speaker (501.2 (£399.99)) make up the totally new Chrono series. Utilising elements of Chrono SL technology in a more affordable cabinet, the all new floorstanding 508.2 DC incorporates Canton’s downward firing port for better output efficiency and less audible distortion.
All products are available in white or black vinyl cabinets with high gloss finished baffles.
GLE Series – entry-level performance speaker range
The entry-level to Canton’s HiFi range, the GLE series has had a total re-design. With Reference level wave surround driver technology and new cross-over designs, the GLE series has had a total acoustic make-over. The two floorstanding models (490.2 (£799.99) and 470.2(£649.99)), two stand-mount models (430.2 (£399.99) and 420.2 (£349.99)), centre speaker (455.2 Centre (£249.99)) and on-wall model (410.2 (£279.99)) make up the range which has been tuned to work as well for stereo playback as it is for home cinema.
All products are available in white, mocca/white, nut/white, beach/white, silver or black matt vinyl cabinets.
Movie CD Series – lifestyle speaker range with elegant aluminium cabinets
With updates to the subwoofers and acoustic re-tuning to the main speakers, the new
Movie series features products developed to suit any domestic environment. Each
5.1 package in the range (CD2000.2, CD1500.2, CD 202.2, CD1000.2 and CD 105) have been acoustically reworked to cope with higher volume levels and re-tuned for improved performance. These improvements stand out particularly when integrated with the new range of subwoofers (see below).
All products are available in silver or black high gloss with the CD 2000.2, CD 1500.2 and CD 202.2 also available in high gloss white. Est SRP £499.99 to £2499.99
Movie Series – 5.1 entry-level speaker packages
An improved tonal balance and ability to cope with higher volume levels makes the new Movie 5.1 packages extremely competitive amongst the current crop of budget home cinema speaker systems. Both the 155 QX and 125 MX feature new subwoofers whilst the 85 CX and 65 CX feature general improvements all round.
All products are available in high gloss black with the Movie 155 QX, 125 MX and 85 CX also available in high gloss white and the 125 MX, 85 CX and 65 CX available in high gloss silver. Est SRP £249.99 to £699.99
Digital Movie Systems - soundbar
With the DM 8, Canton extends its range of all-in-one ‘soundbar’ home cinema systems.
With 100 Watts of power, improved bass performance, three analogue inputs and one optional subwoofer output (for those with larger rooms), the DM8 is ideal for those that want to up-grade their home cinema experience with the least amount of effort and hassle. The included remote control and integrated front panel display adds to the ‘no-hassle’ factor.
The DM 8 is available in high gloss black with an est SRP of £1199.99.
Home Cinema Packages
With no less than 9 new subwoofers, Canton has re-designed its entire range to improve performance and integration with its main speakers. All subwoofers now feature long-throw drivers for increased bass response and sandwich constructed cones for greater rigidity for a cleaner performance. Canton’s wave surround driver technology is also featured throughout the range.
The top two models (SUB 850R (£1999.99) and SUB 1200R (£1899.99)) both feature 750 Watt audiophile-grade digital amplification, remote control and the addition of a passive driver in the bottom of the cabinet to replace the port. This novel design lifts the efficiency of the main driver by 2db which increases its bass performance whilst allowing for better integration with the main speakers from the forward-firing driven driver. Also featuring the passive driver arrangement, the SUB 800R (£999.99) features a 250 Watt amplifier and remote control. To match the Chrono SL Series, the SUB 80 (£549.99) features the same passive driver and 250 Watt amplifier arrangement with the addition of a chrome trim ring. The other new products in the range (SUB 600 (£499.99), Sub 12 (£699.99), SUB 10 (£549.99), and Sub 8 (£449.99)) all feature a 250 Watt amplifier with the smaller SUB 6 (£349.99) rated at 100 Watts.
All subwoofers are available in high gloss white (except for the SUB 8), high gloss silver (except for the SUB 600) and high gloss black. SUB 850R, SUB 800 R, SUB 80 and SUB 60 are also available in high gloss titanium.
Two new speaker stands are added to the range. The LS 850.2 is designed for Canton’s range of stand-mount and centre channel speakers and features an improved baseboard for a more rigid coupling to the floor. The LS 90.1 stand, designed for the small satellite speakers, now comes in white, silver and black.
All products will be available from October 1st 2010. Further press information of the specific ranges is available upon request.
