The moviegoers have spoken! Movies.com – the ultimate destination for all things movies – asked moviegoers everywhere to voice their opinions in its summer wrap-up survey. Movies.com collected thousands of responses from movie fans who spoke their mind about the best – and worst – that the summer of 2010 had to offer at the multiplex.

• BEST SUMMER MOVIE: “Inception”
RUNNER-UP: “Iron Man 2”
It was all about the action this year as approximately 38 percent named Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending “Inception” as the best movie of the summer. The early summer blockbuster “Iron Man 2” received the second most votes with 18 percent.

• SUMMER’S BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: “The Last Airbender”
RUNNER-UP: “Jonah Hex”
One-third of respondents chose M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” as the most disappointing movie of the summer, while 20 percent followed with the box office flop “Jonah Hex.”

• BIGGEST LOL MOMENT: Will Ferrell’s Pimp Scene in “The Other Guys”
RUNNER-UP: Angelina Jolie Beats Up Dozens of Grown Men with Her Tiny Fists in “Salt”
Thirty percent of respondents LOL’d the loudest at Will Ferrell’s unforgettable pimp scene in the hit comedy “The Other Guys.” Twenty-four percent snickered at the unintentionally funny Angelina Jolie who managed to single-handedly defeat an onslaught of baddies with her bare hands in “Salt.”

• REALLY? THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY?: “Vampires Suck”
RUNNER-UP: “Grown-Ups”
Although they were box office hits, audiences didn’t leave the theater with much to laugh about. The late-summer spoof “Vampires Suck” led with 27 percent of the votes while Adam Sandler’s “Grown Ups” followed with 25 percent.

• BEST WELCOME BACK MOMENT: Sylvester Stallone Reunites 80s Action Heroes in “The Expendables”
RUNNER-UP: Woody and Buzz Charm Moviegoers’ Hearts in “Toy Story 3”
A full 30 percent of movie fans were glad to welcome Sly and his pumped-up pals back to the big screen. Interestingly, only 12 percent celebrated the return of Julia Roberts in “Eat, Pray, Love.”

• WORST WELCOME BACK MOMENT: The cast of “Sex and the City 2”
RUNNER-UP: Another “Cats & Dogs” Movie
One third of respondents were underwhelmed by Carrie and company in the widely criticized “Sex and the City 2.” Meanwhile, 25 percent were equally unenthused by a “Cats & Dogs” sequel.

• BEST FAMILY FILM: “TOY STORY 3”
RUNNER-UP: “Despicable Me”
Not surprisingly the Pixar blockbuster “Toy Story 3” was the easy choice for 52 percent. “Despicable Me” was a distant second with 18 percent of the votes.

• MOST PAINFUL FAMILY FILM: “The Last Airbender”
RUNNER-UP: “Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore”
More than 37 percent found “The Last Airbender” to be the biggest chore, while 35 percent begrudgingly sat through “Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore.”

• BIGGEST FREAK-OUT MOMENT: The Sex Scene in “Splice”
RUNNER-UP: All 92 Minutes of “The Human Centipede”
The sex scene from “Splice,” in which scientists genetically engineer a not-quite-human hybrid, creeped out more than 31 percent of movie fans. Anyone who’s seen the cult horror movie “The Human Centipede” knows too well why 30 percent chose all 92 minutes of the film as the summer’s biggest freak-out moment.

• SUMMER’S MVPs: Christopher Nolan and Leonardo DiCaprio
RUNNERS-UP: Sylvester Stallone and Company
The director/star team behind “Inception” were the summer’s most valuable players according to 40 percent of moviegoers, while Stallone and “The Expendables” cast followed up with 18 percent of the vote.

Summing up the 2010 summer movie season, more than 46 percent awarded a “B” grade average. Thirty-one percent were not as generous, responding that the summer deserved a “C.” For more information about the Movies.com Summer Wrap-up Survey, contact John Angelo.
