PIKA Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of plug-in media-processing hardware/software and telephony appliances and applications, announced today the further strengthening of its product portfolio by releasing new configurations for its HMP (host media processing) analog network interface boards and adding support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 to its MonteCarlo DSP Software Development Kit (SDK).
“PIKA continues to support evolving customer requirements with the solutions they need to develop and deploy their applications on our robust, market proven media processing platform,” said Terry Atwood, vice president, sales, marketing and customer care at PIKA. “By enabling developers to design higher density solutions with expanded capacity to HMP analog trunk and station boards, PIKA is helping the market move to a more affordable, software-based media-processing landscape, without sacrificing functionality or density.”
The HMP hardware additions to PIKA’s portfolio include an analog trunk (FXO) expansion module that can add 4 or 8 ports to the existing HMP analog trunk board, expanding a single board’s capacity to a maximum of 24 ports. This module can also be used in a hybrid manner to add 4 or 8 analog trunk ports to an HMP analog station (FXS) board, providing a maximum configuration of 12 stations and 8 trunks.
With additional enhancements to the MonteCarlo Software Development Kit (SDK), the existing analog station module, available in 4 and 8 port variants, can now be added to the HMP analog trunk (FXO) board, to create a hybrid FXO/FXS configuration of up to 16 trunks and 8 stations. This hybrid architecture provides cost and resource savings compared to the alternative of using an additional card slot in the computer.
Unlike competitive solutions, PIKA’s entire portfolio of host-based media (HMP) compatible hardware is software expandable in the field. For example, an analog trunk board initially purchased with 4 ports can have an additional 4, 8 or 12 ports added with the simple application of a new software license. Beyond 16 ports, further expansion can be realized by adding either the trunk or station expansion module. The base expansion modules come with 4 ports and can be expanded to 8 by software licensing. Software licensing eliminates the requirement for an expensive site visit and board swap when an end customer’s system needs increased capacity.
In addition to the expansion of its hardware portfolio, PIKA has released version 2.7 of its DSP MonteCarlo media processing software. PIKA continues to support developers who have developed fax, IVR, messaging, PBX and other telephony applications in the traditional DSP based environment by adding support for 32-bit Windows 7 and Server 2008. These enhancements demonstrate PIKA’s commitment to its many existing customers who are using DSP based technology.
The FXO expansion module and MonteCarlo update release are now available.
