Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa, 2010/08/11 - SARAD reinvents their online accessibility to benefit all media users, sellers and buyers.
South Africa’s leading media, marketing and advertising professionals resource, SARAD is providing a new free to use service. After 37 years, providing accurate, real-time media data, they are launching their new free Online Media Directory in August.
What was once a printed medium directory, and then a software-based downloadable version has now been expertly migrated and developed into a web based application allowing users to access 50% of SARAD’s media listings, information and planning tools for free. For those media owners, buyers and consumers looking for an unlimited database the option to purchase this access is available via SARAD’s Online Media Directory application.
Neelan Chetty, SARAD’s CEO commented on the fact that the directory is free, saying “Well it’s about evolution; media owners, buyers and consumers have, over the years, used SARAD in different mediums. Our market research showed that SARAD had not yet fully evolved into the “web based” age of media tools. We decided that we needed to strategically create a high impact, highly visible ‘web footprint’ in order to harness and leverage SARAD’s 37 year old Heritage and evolve SARAD into the fast changing ‘web based’ world”.
They believe that this free service will provide them with an instantaneous market penetration that none of their competitors can compete with. The free online directory will also benefit media owners, buyers and consumers; by having a high quality, live updated media directory and planning tool at no cost at all and at just the click of a button.
It seems their strategy is paying off. Chetty related that SARAD is “currently first page, top ranking in no less than 50 local and international searches.” They are “all over the web” and this benefits media owners who via SARAD can showcase their publications and other media to all local and international media buyers, planners and consumers.
With over 750 Media Owners, 3000 publications, radio stations & eMedia Titles, 14 000 Media Contacts and full time researchers ensuring their directory is up-to-date and premium, SARAD guarantees an efficient tool in solving any marketing, publishing or advertising requirements.
Buyers and sellers of media are now able to easily and quickly identify relevant and cost effective domains applicable to their target market. The directory covers anything from the Internet, magazines and newspapers or on radio. SARAD’s Free Online Media Directory enables browsers to successfully recognise intended markets where their advertisements will be most effective thus allowing them to capitalise on their advertising spending.
SARAD (sarad.co.za) will continue to develop their online presence – “We are aggressively and continuously working on and building our eMedia database. We have dedicated unlimited resources to this, and can boast over 500 eMedia sites on the database online directory currently.” Chetty says.
The move to the web should not threaten the various medias’ integrity in the eyes of SARAD’s users however. “A system where Media Owners maintain their own data will never work in our system. We believe that you cannot maintain consistency and reliability of information if it is self-administered. You cannot rely on hundreds of media owners delivering their information to you; we believe that we have to go to our media owners to “collect” this information.” Chetty concludes.
Because media consumers demand real time and current information constantly, information given that may be inaccurate or outdated can and will tarnish the integrity of SARAD’s entire database so they are currently recruiting 5 more researchers to check on and maintain the database, and to call on media owners for updated information and original PDF rate cards.
