In other news, National Algae Association (nationalalgaeassociation.com) is pleased to announce that production has begun at the commercial-scale demo photobioreactor at the Biotech Institute. The tubes are green and additional strains are happily growing in the newly-constructed lab facilities. Among the accomplishments, the project took 4 months to construct and put into production, which reinforces NAA’s belief that fast-tracking commercialization of algae can be a reality.
Responses to the recently-announced algae production incubator program have been enormous. Several technologies are already under currently review to determine viability of commercial scale-up. Land has been made available and we are in the process of reviewing each proposal to determine the location of available water, CO2, wastewater, transportation and the like.
