GE today announced it has appointed former federal government and petroleum industry veteran Keith Triginer as GE Energy’s new country executive in Canada to oversee the company’s commercial initiatives in the region.

In his new role, Triginer will be responsible for leading GE Energy's commercial strategy in Canada as the federal and provincial governments intensify their efforts to modernize the country’s energy infrastructure, boost alternative energy production and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Prior to joining GE Energy, Triginer served as director of strategic policy and emerging issues in the oil, gas and alternative energy division of Environment Canada, the federal environmental agency in Ottawa.

“Keith’s extensive experience in the Canadian industrial sector will be crucial in helping us develop new opportunities to meet the diverse energy and environmental requirements of customers throughout the country,” said Bob Prantil, north region executive for GE Energy.

Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Triginer will help identify ways to expand GE’s industrial energy commercial presence as customers seek to increase the production of alternative energy and deploy more energy efficient technologies.

Triginer also will oversee GE Energy’s business initiatives in the Canadian petroleum industry, including working to address the need for more energy efficient water recycling technologies to further reduce the environmental effects of bitumen (“oil sands”) production.

Before joining the federal government, Triginer served as vice president of industry issues for the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute after a 25-year career in energy business development with Siemens Canada, Foxboro and Esso.

“Keith's petroleum industry experience in process operations and the commissioning of refinery and oil sands production facilities will be highly valuable as we seek strategic opportunities to expand our business in this area,” Prantil noted.

Triginer is a registered mechanical engineer with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University, B.C. Canada Faculty of Business.
