The NAMSR (National Association of Medical Sales Representatives) RMSR Certification has been recently cited with the U. S. Department of Labor Certification Board. The NAMSR has been named the sole approved accreditor of certification bodies for entry level Medical Device & Equipment Sales or also known in the medical industry as DME Reps.
NAMSR designation as the accreditor for the RMSR Certification program is stated in revisions to a manual issued recently. The manual provides guidance and procedures for the medical sales training, certification, and management of the Medical Device & Equipment sales workforce conducting sales functions in assigned territories and medical sales positions. “The NAMSR is recognized for its long and successful track record for successfully running the RMSR Certification program for a wide variety of medical device companies, personnel, and students,” said Lisa Hannenberg, vice president of accreditation services. “The NAMSR is pleased to serve as the approved accreditation body recognized by the industry and its Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, and we look forward to continuing and deepening our involvement in this initiative.”
RMSR Certification & Accreditation offered by the NAMSR enhances the credibility and qualifications for medical device sales applicants. When medical sales applicants are RMSR Certified they meet job requirements for medical sales positions open with medical device & equipment companies. An impartial assessor evaluates the certification process, determining if the examination is evaluating the identified competencies and enhancing manufacture, consumer and public confidence in a certification program and the person who holds the certification.
Since the inception of the NAMSR RMSR Certification in 2002, the association has accredited certification bodies that represent more than 400 medical device companies. In total, thousands of professionals currently hold the RMSR Certification from the National Association of Medical Sales Representatives.
So, one of the key distinctions is that in certification, you may verify education/training received (as a job requirement), but you are also providing required training; and also assessing current industry knowledge and/or job skill set. So, the focus of certification is on the verifying medical device industry knowledge and assessing current knowledge as well as vocational skill sets required to qualify for a medical sales career. In the RMSR certificate program, the focus is on providing correspondence distance learning and evaluating attainment of it. Companies offering medical device jobs do not have time to train on industry product knowledge, medical terminology, operating room procedures, hospital protocol, rules, & regulations, managed care, etc. Since the industry is so technical, RMSR® vocational training is focused on medical device product and industry education.
The RMSR® Certificaton is becoming more important to applicants as medical companies look to hire new reps with some medical industry education and training. The industry has seen a huge increase of requests to interview certified and trained RMSR® Certified reps.
