Jim White, of Shermco Industries, recently presented at the 2010 Electrical Apparatus Service Association Convention and Exposition at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
White’s presentation, “Electrical Safety in the Service Center: A 2010 Update,” comprehensively covered four key areas:
• Essential rules and regulations on safety to which service centers must comply;
• Current proposals for change to the 2012 edition of NFPA 70E that affect service centers;
• Electrical safety-related maintenance requirements;
• Integrating a positive electrical safety culture for the benefit of your employees and customers.
“Two things that frequently cost service centers money and downgrade the level of safety within facilities are not staying up-to-date with crucial electrical safety rules and regulations, and not working toward a better electrical safety culture,” said White. “The EASA Convention and Exposition provided a great forum for educating facility operators on how to overcome these problems.”
EASA is an international trade organization of over 2,100 electromechanical sales and service firms in 58 countries. EASA provides its members with a way of keeping current on materials, equipment and technology through its many engineering and educational programs.
