The cranberry, one of nature’s smallest fruits, is about to play a significant role in helping to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer, one of women’s biggest health concerns. This coming October, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Northland® Cranberries will be donating 25 cents to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation™ for each bottle of Northland 100% Juice Cranberry Blends bought by consumers redeeming special coupons upon purchase. With their donation, Northland is giving health conscious cranberry juice consumers the opportunity to not only drink for their own health, but to help others through this special fundraising initiative as they “Drink to Pink.”
Through this campaign, Northland is expected to contribute a minimum of $50,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) -- an independent 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization. The mission of the BCRF is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at leading medical centers worldwide, and to increase public awareness about good breast health.
“Northland has long been committed to women’s health and wellness, and through this campaign we are proud to be playing a role in the fight against this devastating disease,” says Brad Angevine, Vice President of Marketing. “For years, people have come to recognize that drinking cranberry juice is good for their health, and now we’re happy to be able to tell people that, through this program, drinking cranberry juice can help in the fight against breast cancer.”
The Northland “Drink to Pink” national cause marketing campaign will be supported by multi-tiered marketing, public relations and in-store activities. In addition to the FSI program providing consumers with the coupon offer to benefit the BCRF, the program will feature new Northland packaging bearing the BCRF logo. During this time, the Northland website will “turn pink” – and will provide valuable consumer information about breast health and links to BCRF and other breast cancer resource sites. The program will also focus on retail partnerships – which will not only extend the reach of the program and contribute additional funds to BCRF, but will drive customers to participating retailers’ in-store promotions and events surrounding the campaign.
"The ‘Drink to Pink’ campaign is a great way for people to contribute to our mission of preventing and finding a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime," says Robbie Finke, Director of Marketing for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "Northland shares our commitment to beating breast cancer, which affects so many women today. Through this program, Northland is giving consumers an easy way to support the most innovative breast cancer research that will save lives in the future."
