Kerio Technologies, a leading innovator in global messaging and IT security, today announced that it has partnered with IT security and data protection firm Sophos to provide pro-active anti-malware protection for its new technology to complement existing layers of security in Kerio’s unified threat management (UTM) and groupware products.
Sophos’s high-speed malware detection technology will be integrated with Kerio Control, Kerio’s forthcoming virtual UTM appliance and Windows gateway security software, and Kerio Connect, a messaging and collaboration server for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
“Sophos’s fast scanning engine and small footprint will help us to continue building high-performance software,” says Pavel Suk, VP of Engineering at Kerio Technologies. “Replacing existing technology with something new can present challenges, but Sophos has provided us with fantastic support and has demonstrated their commitment at all levels of their organization.”
SophosLabs – the blended intelligence behind all Sophos security technologies – analyzes 50,000 new malware samples every day.
As today’s threats are more sophisticated, targeted, and fast moving, it’s critical to stop malware before a specific detection update can be released. Sophos Genotype® malware detection technology proactively blocks families of malware threats and analyzes the behavior of the code before it executes, therefore protecting users from 90 percent of unknown threats.
“In Sophos we found a truly engaged technology partner,” says James Gudeli, VP of Business Development at Kerio Technologies. “This makes the transition for our existing customers easy and, most importantly, gives us a strong ally for building world class products.”
“Integrating Sophos’s advanced malware protection as an additional layer of security for Kerio’s UTM and gateway offerings underscores Kerio’s commitment to ensuring that its customers receive the highest level of pro-active protection against today’s sophisticated threats,” said Michael Rogers, VP of Global OEM and Strategic Alliance at Sophos. “Sophos has earned a reputation for developing dependable security solutions and seamless integration with other technologies.”
Plug-ins for other anti-virus products, allowing for dual anti-virus protection, will continue to be available in Kerio products.
