The “With You Lebanon” campaign, launched by Al Aqariya TV and Al Aqariya Group in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent to support war-stricken Lebanon, has generated overwhelming response from individuals and organizations across the Arab world. The campaign has to date succeeded in collecting donations worth AED 50 million, which include cash donations, medicines, medical equipment, foodstuff and tents, in addition to shipping services to deliver supplies to affected areas in Lebanon. In addition, the Sudanese state of Khartoum has pledged to donate the revenue yielded from cultivation of a 40 sq km land for the benefit of Lebanese and Palestinian children.

Speaking on the situation in the country, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said that Lebanon was facing an invasion and needed the support of all people who loved the country and cared for humanity, and called on people in the Arab world to stand by Lebanon in its moment of crisis. Siniora expressed his appreciation for the management of Al Aqariya TV for launching the “With You Lebanon” campaign, which opens the door to people across the Arab world to show their sympathy and solidarity with Lebanon by contributing to relief efforts in the country.

Dr. Mohammad Saleh, President of Al Aqariya Group, said, “We are pained to see the destruction and devastation that Lebanon is witnessing, and we realized that it was our responsibility to do all we can to support the country in its hour of need. The “With You Lebanon” campaign was launched to facilitate this, and it is deeply gratifying to note that the initiative has generated such positive response from peace-loving people in the region.”

Al Aqariya TV has launched a new service whereby all regional and international aid agencies and official Lebanese institutions can advertise free of cost on the channel, their campaigns related to collection of donations aimed at supporting Lebanon and its people. These organizations and institutions can send a recorded tape containing information on their services, to be broadcast on Al Aqariya TV 1 and 2.

Al Aqariya Group will also run a special supplement of its magazine “Al Aqariya”, titled “With You Lebanon”, where relevant addresses and bank account numbers will be published for the benefit of readers wishing to make donations. The supplement will also publish letters of support to Lebanon from the magazine’s readers.

Dr. Saleh said, “All media arms of Al Aqariya, including Al Aqariya TV 1 and 2, Al Aqariya magazine and our website, are now supporting the “With You Lebanon” campaign. We thank the UAE Red Crescent as well as the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Sharjah Islamic Bank for the support they have lent to this campaign.”
