Suite Solutions, a global leader in content lifecycle implementation, announced today that it has released x:Point, a component content management system specifically designed for Microsoft SharePoint users. The product is optimized to support DITA and modular documentation and works with XMetaL Author Enterprise for Microsoft SharePoint from JustSystems.

x:Point allows companies to leverage their existing investment in Microsoft SharePoint into a full-fledged component CMS. The new offering enables these companies to meet industry standards for documentation, like DITA, which will help reduce cost and gain efficiency. This new product allows organizations to combine their corporate ECM (Enterprise Content Management) solution with a robust solution for managing and sharing modular technical documentation and training material across the enterprise. The solution includes a robust translation management facility to help significantly reduce costs of translating and publishing localized content.

"As part of our mission to increase DITA adoption and lower the barrier to entry for comprehensive content lifecycle implementation, x:Point levels the playing field for companies with limited budget or with strict internal IT guidelines," said Joe Gelb, President of Suite Solutions. "It provides a platform for achieving effective ECM that can now include everyone in the enterprise – technical documentation, training, engineering, support and marketing – without compromising on robustness. Simply put: we’ve enabled Microsoft SharePoint to rise to the occasion.”

x:Point targets the following audiences:

• Companies with Microsoft SharePoint already deployed and implemented;
• Large corporations who need a stable enterprise-wide deployment across many divisions and business units;
• Small to mid-size companies that will not have budget for an alternative high-end component CMS system;
• Resellers/integrators selling/implementing Microsoft SharePoint and XMetaL;
• Technical documentation and localization service providers who want to provide an inexpensive and easy-to-use platform for collaborating with their customers.

“As a huge proponent of the DITA standard and the makers of XMetaL we are thrilled with Suite Solutions’ efforts to bring a scalable, usable and accessible DITA platform to existing SharePoint customers,” said Tim Groenveld, VP Sales, Americas at JustSystems. “The promise of XML in general and DITA specifically is to enable a wide variety of users to be more efficient but to date it has really only been available to specialists. Suite Solutions and XMetaL make all the benefits of DITA available to organizations utilizing their existing infrastructure. We see great things in the future!”
