Colorado Springs, CO, United States, 2010/04/16 - Stresscon Corporation was recently awarded the opportunity to provide precast concrete for the Garden City High School project in Garden City, Kansas.
The project includes a total of 394 pieces of precast concrete, consisting of architectural insulated wall panels, spandrels, solid slabs, and hollow-core plank.
"Stresscon is very excited to be working with Adolfson and Peterson, the General Contractor on this project, a company with whom we have enjoyed an excellent working relationship for many years," said Dave Mahan, Stresscon's Business Development Manager. While the bidding process between precast concrete and site-cast/tilt-up concrete was very competitive, the winning edge for Stresscon was the superior quality of their architectural concrete and surface finishes - a competitive advantage realized through a strict quality assurance program that is PCI certified. Also, the accelerated construction schedule proposed by Stresscon was a considerable benefit to the contractor and owner. The general contractor did a thorough comparison of the competing systems, including variables that are often overlooked in such analyses; less time on site, minimal disruption to and coordination of other subtrades, and the elimination of waste slabs, and concluded that a precast solution was in the best interest of the owner.
