BrightCom™, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions, announced the improvement of their Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conference codecs due to the latest version of the Visual Collaboration System 2.6. The latest upgrades and features are aimed at creating a better experience for collaborating in the conference room.

BrightCom Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing codecs are processor based and software driven. They have the ability to connect to other BrightCom codecs, external conferencing endpoints via the web and other SIP enabled telepresence and conferencing endpoints.

All BrightCom codecs are able to receive the same standard or high definition video broadcasts and data presentations. Through the unique multi-monitor management function, all BrightCom conferencing endpoints are able to automatically adjust the layout of the video and data according to the number of monitors for full visual comprehension. BrightCom’s Lumina Telepresence codecs are also able to receive high definition video and data simultaneously.

VCS 2.6 now empowers all existing and next generation based Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing codecs. The new codecs will provide enhanced performance, scalability and speed, making BrightCom conferencing endpoints more robust and easier to use.

Additionally, BrightCom telepresence and video conference room codecs now support multi-microphone inputs. This allows a conference room to utilize audio from microphones built into a conference room (i.e. Ceiling microphones) or onboard audio for mobile video conferencing carts.

Other enhancements for the BrightCom Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing codecs include real time instant messaging displayed via the codec. During a meeting, if the participant would like to chat to the group, the message is displayed over the video and/or data that displayed on the Lumina Telepresence or ClearView Video Conference system. This allows large displays of questions or comments from people who may not have control of the meeting, but do have items to discuss during the meeting or presentation.

Also, when sharing a document or any other data in its native format, VCS 2.6 will now display the loading progress bar on the Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing codecs and on the conference room screens. This alerts the participant or conference room with control of the meeting as to when the data has completed loading for all of the participants or conference rooms.

Finally, BrightCom has added new security and administration controls in the VCS system for the restart or shut down of any Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing codec.
