Ron Pate of Sandia National Laboratories, who is currently on task assignment in Washington, DC with the Department of Energy’s Office of Biomass Program, will present 'Algae Biofuels from the DOE/EERE Perspective' at the National Algae Association conference on April 29-30, 2010, and Kevin Drumm of SRS will provide an update on algaenomics and discuss co-products and overall integration of biomass and micronutrient recycle.

Algaepreneurs from all over the US and abroad will be gathering to address the issue of moving technologies out of the lab and into commercialization, because they believe that algae is one solution to help the US get off of foreign oil, and want to create green jobs. While algae research will continue, we all agree this emerging industry will follow in the footsteps of the petroleum industry and that new breakthroughs should come from commercial-scale production in the field. As existing technologies are being implemented, enhancements will surely be developed, but since our government and corporate America are taking their time and spending their money on research, algaepreneurs are taking on the risk of turning the corner towards fast-track commercialization themselves using proven existing technologies.

Membership in the NAA (nationalalgaeassociation.com) is not required to attend our events. All you need is an interest in collaborative sharing of information to help mold this new industry. If you believe the US needs to get off foreign oil, become energy independent and create new green jobs, please join us in Houston on April 29-30. Early registration for the conference ends on April 15.
