Laramie, WY, United States, 2006/07/13 - The Wyoming Technology Organization today announces hiring Shawn Mills, as its Executive Director. Mr. Mills comes from a technology background that spans over eight years.
From raising $4 million in venture capital in 2000 to launching voice over internet protocol (VOIP) strategies at several telecommunication companies and his most recent position as Director of Marketing for Wyoming.com and Cerento, Inc, Mr. Mills is no stranger to high-technology projects.
"It's tremendous to see the momentum that is building in Wyoming to positively affect growth in its technology industry. From nanotechnologies in Sheridan to voice recognition technology in Casper, Wyoming is starting to see true growth in its sector," stated Mr. Mills. "It's time to start focusing on economic development and support for all high-tech companies in Wyoming" he added.
"There seems to be a growing number of science and technology entrepreneurs who are making things happen in Wyoming. Many of them are working quietly below the radar. We'd like to engage these folks in a greater dialogue-one where we all benefit. The WTO is the organization to prompt this discussion, and Shawn's the person for that job. His technology and marketing acumen combined with his professional drive make him the right person at the right time," said Frances VanHouten of Rainmaker Coaching and WTO member based in Jackson, Wyoming.
The technology organization along with several technology incubators, namely the Wyoming Technology Business Center, is focused on helping grow existing companies and attract new technology companies and professionals to Wyoming. The organization will continue to develop a strong support network of technology professionals and executives as well as offer training programs targeted towards the specific needs of the technology industry.
Among Mills' priorities over the next six months, is the acquisition of the Wyoming Manufacturers Association, broadening the benefits the organization provides to its members, and hosting Wyoming's inaugural technology summit.
