Quantros President and Chief Medical Officer Sanjaya Kumar, MD, MPH, will be a keynote speaker this Wednesday at the 5th annual Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC) Patient Safety Conference in Ames, IA.
Kumar will discuss the evolution of health care as it relates to patient safety. With the ever increasing focus by consumers and providers on improving healthcare safety, prompted in part by the national healthcare debate, the topic is a timely one. Kumar will discuss a number of patient safety topics, including how healthcare organizations can promote a culture of safety.
In 2000, Kumar founded Quantros, Inc., a provider of web-based software and related services to healthcare organizations in the areas of patient safety, clinical performance improvement and accreditation and compliance. He serves on numerous quality improvement committees, task forces and working groups including the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management Data Safety Committee and the National Patient Safety Foundation Safety Product Vendor Selection Criteria Committee. Kumar is the author of the book, Fatal Care: Survive in the U.S. Health System fatalcare.com (IGI Press, 2008).
Last October, Kumar joined San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's trip to Bangalore, India, as part of the San Francisco-Bangalore Sister City Initiative to promote business and cultural ties between the two cities.
