Adaptive Network Solutions, a leading system design house, today unveiled its new Sub-1 GHz IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee RF module at the Embedded World 2010 in Nuremberg, Germany. The new ultra-sensitive @ANY900-2 module is designed to operate in the ISM bands 915 MHz in the US, 868 MHz in Europe and 783 MHz in China. This Sub-1 GHz ZigBee module features a built-in U.FL antenna connector that enables rapid design-in, using a different external antenna for every application and thus providing greater flexibility for the developers.

"We are proud to be the first in EMEA to introduce a Sub-1 GHz ZigBee module with U.FL connector," said Mr. Thomas Lerm, CEO of Adaptive Network Solutions GmbH. "Our goal is to give our customers the ultimate flexibility in designing their wireless products and @ANY900-2 module's U.FL connector further extends the design options. OEMs and system integrators can significantly reduce costs and time to market by using our RF modules, developer tools and professional services."

The tiny @ANY900-2 module features an exceptional receiving sensitivity of -110 dBm and an optimal output power level, resulting in an extended operating range and very low power consumption. Containing all the digital and analog circuitry, @ANY900-2 RF module presents a fully integrated solution for the developers and eliminates the need for in-house RF expertise. @ANY900-2 module is designed to work with various wireless sensing and control applications, using IEEE 802.15.4-based standards, such as ZigBee® and 6LoWPAN. The Sub-1 GHz RF module is ideal for smart metering, energy management, building and industrial automation and other application areas, requiring high RF performance.

@ANY900-2 is based on the industry-leading AVR Z-Link platform from Atmel. The new module is fully interchangeable with other @ANY RF modules for Sub-1 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. Developers can maximize the inherent advantages of Atmel's hardware platform by tapping into a wide range of RF design and customization services now available at Adaptive Network Solutions. In addition, Adaptive Network Solutions provides Smart MAC Suite (SMS) networking software that allows easy control of @ANY platform's functionality via AT commands supporting all IEEE 802.15.4-based functions, as well as facilitates the addition of numerous custom features.

"The new Sub-1 GHz @ANY900-2 ZigBee module from Adaptive Network Solutions is an important addition to our AVR Z-Link third party offering," said Magnus Pedersen, Product Marketing Director of MCU Wireless Solutions at Atmel Corporation. "The U.FL antenna connector allows more design options, thus shortening the time to market for OEMs. By offering a wide range of RF modules, developer tools and professional services, Adaptive Network Solutions helps more developers across the globe to benefit from Atmel's industry-leading hardware platform."
