In an effort to reverse an alarming migration of engineering skills to other sectors, Madgex’s award winning Origin Job Board application is being used to tempt new and imminent graduates back to engineering. Madgex, one of the UK’s leading job board providers, will work alongside two prominent organisations in the engineering and technology sector on a new magazine and website, Technology Horizons.

The magazine and website initiative is lead by: Centaur Media PLC and scenta - a science, engineering and technology careers portal developed by the Engineering and Technology Board. scenta was set up to address misconceptions surrounding a career in engineering and will host the site where Madgex's job board will sit.

Steven Wood, scenta’s business development manager says: “The skills shortage in engineering is an issue of national importance as science, engineering and technology are vital sectors for UK wealth creation. Talented students looking at Madgex’s job board on the Technology Horizons site will quickly realise that a career in engineering is varied, interesting, challenging and rewarding.”

Madgex, the UK market leader in B2B web publishing systems, already provides several job board applications and editorial solutions for Centaur websites including, The Engineer. The fortnightly publication is also committed to encouraging graduates to stay in engineering and will therefore carry details of jobs posted to the Technologyhorizons site on its own job board. Madgex’s application will provide seamless uniformity for visitors to both sites.

By using Magex’s simple interface would-be engineers can quickly view a variety of well-paid jobs not just in the UK but all over the world. They can search by industry sector, such as marine biology or nanotechnology, as well as by individual recruiter from an A-Z directory.

Sean Marshall, The Engineer’s publisher said: “We approached Madgex to provide the job board application for the new online magazine because of its proven history in providing B2B publishers with leading platforms. We’re confident that this sector specific recruitment initiative will benefit from Madgex’s deep understanding of the needs of the current market.”

Simon Conroy, Madgex’s CEO, says: “We have been aware of the potential engineering shortage for some time. This is a vital sector drive for the future of engineering and it’s a great compliment to be invited to get involved.”
