The Scout Association is providing its 100,000 adult volunteer staff throughout the UK training via e-learning.
The Association offers a variety of training courses but the geographical spread of members and the limited time available due to their voluntary status can limit access training.
Bespoke training specialists, AdVal Learning Solutions (ALS) have developed three programmes for the Association with a fourth in development.
These courses utilise audio and slide shows and can be accessed online and in CD-ROM form, offering higher quality reproduction. The e-learning concludes with a short quiz about the course content, and again learners print out a certificate showing their name, score and date to add to their portfolio for validation.
Says Scout Association head of training Robert Halkyard: "We have worked through a major change of mind-set in order to accommodate this new way of learning.
"Response has been very positive - users appreciate the quality of the e-learning, value being able to access it faster, and can train in their own time and at their own pace."
Implementation of e-learning in the Association continues.
