Bryant & Stratton College, a pioneer in the field of career education since 1854 and the premier provider of online associate’s degrees, has announced the launch of its new online Associate of Administrative Assistant degree program. Created for students interested in a career in the growing administrative support industry, the program prepares graduates with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to compete for and perform as administrative assistants in the 21st century. The launch of this program returns Bryant & Stratton to its roots as one of the nation’s leading secretarial schools.
“Administrative assistants are not the short-hand taking, Dictaphone transcribing and correspondence typing secretaries of the ‘Mad Men’ era,” said Scott Traylor, Bryant & Stratton’s Director of Admissions for Online Education. “While a high school diploma may have been sufficient a decade ago, the role of administrative assistant has evolved, making advanced training necessary to succeed in today’s modern office.”
Graduates of Bryant & Stratton College’s online Associate of Administrative Assistant degree program will be qualified for positions in contemporary offices as administrative support personnel and will have the skills needed to excel in jobs that require the selection, application and analysis of data within computerized office systems. Students interested in beginning an administrative support career, as well as current administrative assistants interested in advancement, can benefit from the training and knowledge the associate’s degree from Bryant & Stratton provides. The program features courses related to automated office equipment, word processing, office systems, accounting and administrative skills. “My goal is to become an administrative assistant and the difference between where I am and where I want to be in my career is an associate’s degree,” said Kana Dumas, a current student at Bryant & Stratton College, who is pursuing an Associate of Administrative Assistant degree online. “The Bryant & Stratton program impressed me because it is accredited and online, so I am able to get an associate’s degree that employers will respect in a way that fits with my schedule.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment of executive secretaries and administrative assistants will increase 13 percent between 2008 and 2018. The fields hiring the largest number of administrative assistants and secretaries include corporations; local and state government offices; universities, colleges and professional schools; hospitals and employment services.
Bryant & Stratton College is currently accepting enrollments in the online Associate of Administrative Assistant degree program for classes beginning March 3 or May 5, 2010. Full-time students can complete their degree in 20 months.
