"The Inspiration Sessions," the highly acclaimed short-form series has been greenlit for a second season as part of Sundance Channel's music/talk series "Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…" Impossible, a leading design and visual effects studio, was called upon by the network and sponsor Infiniti for a second straight year to bring both legendary and current musical phenoms to their viewers.
The 13-part series profiles dynamic artist and producer pairings within a candid free-flowing conversation about inspiration. This year's pairings include Sir Elton John with Scissor Sisters, Nelly Furtado with producer Andres Recio, Smokey Robinson with producers Brian French and Gary Gold, and David Gray with producer Ieslyn Polson. A new episode of "The Inspiration Sessions" premieres each week during "Spectacle."
"To work directly with the outstanding people at Sundance Channel and Infiniti is a great thrill for our team," says Joel Pilger, President at Impossible. "And then to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the music industry around the subject of inspiration, well it just doesn't get any better than that."
Developed and produced for Sundance Channel by Impossible and sister company Flying Saucer Films, each 2-minute episode explores an aspect of inspiration such as the songwriting process, studio techniques, and collaboration both inside and outside the recording studio. As brand-sponsored entertainment, the series seamlessly integrates Infiniti messaging and branding to keep viewers engaged during breaks -- time otherwise devoted to commercials on other networks.
"This series captures the essence of artists following their muse," says Brian Eloe, Senior Editor and Art Director for Impossible. "We present musicians and producers in these stories, but it could just as easily be writers, painters, or designers. It's what makes theses episodes so powerful, they cut right to the core of what it takes to make great art."
Season Two of the Inspiration Sessions debuted on December 3, 2009 and continues through the early months of 2010.
