Direct Shipping Services, operating as Global Cargo System, today inaugurated their new group headquarters in Jafza South Zone. The grand inaugural ceremony was attended by the Consul General of India, Yash Sinha, Salma Hareb, CEO of Jafza, Ibrahim M Al Janahi, Executive Vice President of Jafza, Dr. Khater Massaad, Adviser to the Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Ven Govinda, CEO of Global Cargo System and several dignitaries from the trade sector.
The opening of Global Cargo System’s headquarters at Jafza coincides with the ninth anniversary of the company. The new facility occupies an area of 20,000 square meters and includes a state-of-the-art warehouse and corporate office. The latest Warehouse Management System (WMS) has been implemented in the warehouse, and customers can track the movement of their cargo over the internet as all cargo movements are monitored by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
Speaking at the inauguration, Salma Hareb said, “Jafza’s modern infrastructure facilities and our well-planned expansion have made this an ideal base for a range of companies to tap the regional markets. Global Cargo System’s decision to set up their group headquarters in Jafza will certainly help them in consolidating their presence in the UAE as our facilities and support services are second to none. Jafza’s proximity to the air and sea ports, our excellent road network and the range of administrative and operational advantages that we offer, have made us one of the fastest growing free zones in the world.”
“I congratulate Global Cargo System for successfully completing nine years of operations and I am certain that they will have more accomplishments from their new base at Jafza,” added Hareb.
Govinda said, “Today, Jafza is a global brand, having built a reputation for its quality of infrastructure and value added services, and we are glad to open our headquarters here. Our new warehouse will have highly sophisticated facilities including the latest WMS system and RFID technology that will help customers track the status of their cargo, while also speeding up processes. As part of the second phase of expansion, we will build another fully-equipped warehouse in the coming months.”
“We are also in joint partnership with the government of Ras Al Khaimah to build a replica of our office building and warehouse in Ras Al Khaimah, as part of our strategic expansion plans in the country,” he added.
Last year, Jafza moved to the next level of diversification with the launch of South Zone, designed to accommodate eight different sectors through specific clusters. The eight clusters for the project include Logistics City, Digital Valley, Construction Square, Pharma-Med Park, Chemicals and Plastics Field, Paper Pack Zone, Fragrance and Beauty Park, and Food and Beverage Park.
Jafza offers a range of advantages to companies establishing operations in the zone, such as simple administrative procedures, zero duties on all import and export goods and machineries within the free zone, modern communication facilities and excellent support services. More than 5,000 companies from over 120 countries, including about 150 Fortune 500 companies, have set up facilities at Jafza.
