Muscat, Ruwi, United Arab Emirates, 01/20/2010 - The Bidiyah International Challenge (BIC) is the newest sport that has captured the hearts of young and old people alike in the Sultanate of Oman.

The event will be held from February 24 to 25 and will take place on the edge of Al Sharqiyah sands in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, Sharqiyah region.
A competition of driving enthusiasts, the Bidiyah International Challenge is open to all sport buffs who have got excellent sand driving experience, who can drive the farthest distance up a sand dune, turn and come back down again in an exhilarating speed. The event will consist of a dune ascent challenge for a variety of vehicles in different categories: Buggies, standard, modified cars, etc.
A first in the Sultanate, the Bidiyah International Challenge is organised by the Bidiyah Off road Challenges Club (BOCC) under the supervision of Oman Automobile Association (OAA) aimed to bring together sports enthusiasts, adventure seekers and visitors in a celebration of motor sport and cultural entertainment.
BOCC has carefully planned out certain precautions to ensure the safety of each participant. “Safety is of prime importance. To achieve this, all participants are encouraged to abide by the rules set during the entire event, failure to abide by such rules will definitely lead to disqualification”, a BOCC spokesperson said.
The Bidiyah International Challenge (BIC) requires modified vehicles having the maximum permitted tyre perimeter of 35 inches high and 12.5 inches wide.
Registration for the upcoming event costs RO10 and can be made by telephone, e-mail or directly through a member of the Race Committee at least 24 hours before the actual event.
According to BOCC, the event is expected to gather together thousands of guests and visitors from high profile corporate companies and organisations, creating a one-of-its-kind event that will definitely put the Sultanate of Oman on the map as an adventure sport capital and a unique tourist destination.
Food and drink will be provided throughout the challenge.
The Bidiyah International Challenge also provides a unique opportunity to network with thousands of spectators from the capital area, the interior regions and the neighbouring GCC countries.
