Paso Robles custom crush facility, Zoller Wine Styling, raised the wine bar at the recent San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Called the “First and Largest Competition of American Wines,” the competition accepted over 4,900 entries in 2010, and challenged the noses and palates of more than 60 professional wine experts from across the country to judge a record 4,913 entries. Of the medalists, Zoller Wine Styling counted 15 of its 15 entries, including two “Best of Class” winners.
Signe Zoller, woman winemaker and founder of Zoller Wine Styling, says she was proud to have shone so brightly at the competition. “This is probably one of the most important wine judgings in the US,” she says, noting that the Orange County Fair, by comparison, gets about 3,000 entries. “My clients and I were thrilled to see such a firm reflection of our own feelings for these wines made by accredited judges like Wilfred Wong [cellarmaster for Beverages & More!] and Jon Bonne [wine writer for the San Francisco Chronicle].”
Zoller—a longtime award-winning California winemaker whose impressive winemaking résumé includes Cambria Winery, Kendall Jackson Winery and Meridian Vineyards—began her own venture in custom winemaking in 2007. And according to Meridian Vineyards’ founding winemaker Chuck Ortman (with whom Zoller worked for ten years), it’s no surprise that Zoller Wine Styling is seeing so much success: “Signe’s winemaking skills show versatility and an unmatched palate—she is an extraordinary talent, the likes of which are rarely seen.”
Zoller Wine Styling (zollerwinestyling.com) entered custom wines made for Twin Coyotes, Cuatro Dias, Barr Estate Winery, Cocavin, Leprino La Panza Ranch, and Johansing Vineyards labels, as well as her own labels, Zoller Wine Styling and Gr8Ass.
