Sol, Inc., the world leader in solar LED outdoor lighting announced today the appointment of Andy Chaguaceda as its Business Development Manager for Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean.

Mr. Chaguaceda brings to Sol 30 years of electrical sales experience, having been previously associated with such companies as Thomas & Betts Utilities, and The Homac Companies. Over the years he has held District, Regional and International Sales Positions and has worked with distributors, contractors, factory representatives and engineers in Latin America, the Caribbean and South Florida. Mr. Chaguaceda holds an Associate’s Degree from Ashworth College in Atlanta, GA. and will be stationed in Miami to better serve the needs of Sol’s customer base in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

“We are excited to have Andy aboard to support Sol’s sales growth in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean,” said Michael Sonnenfeldt, chairman of Sol, Inc. “His experience in these regions combined with his knowledge in lighting utilities will allow Andy to further expand Sol’s value added reseller network of Solar Lighting Solution Professionals (SLSP). Andy’s role will include assisting SLSPs and to clarify that “grid parity” has finally arrived for many solar lighting projects in these regions, especially those located in areas where access to the grid is too expensive, limited, or unreliable.”

Sol’s SLSP - Solar Lighting Solutions Professional, is a network of contractors and dealers that have graduated from Sol’s 3-day SOLutions course and have been trained to market, sell, and install solar lighting solutions. Andy will be responsible for identifying new accounts and managing Sol’s unique SLSP network, and growing the manufacturer’s representative network in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Rick Schuett, President and CEO at Sol, Inc. added, “We are excited to attract a talented individual like Andy to our international sales team to further strengthen our long-term objectives of educating and informing clients and the specification community about the benefits of solar lighting systems.
