Agito Networks, Inc., the company delivering innovative solutions in enterprise mobility, and Rivada Networks, a leading designer, integrator and operator of wireless interoperable public safety communications networks, today announced that their joint communications solution, Interoperable Communications Extension (ICE24), has been selected to aid in emergency response support for Homeland Security and Homeland Defense missions.
The first-of-its-kind voice, video and data solution, ICE24 is a fully interoperable, mobile deployable first responder communications solution enabling on-demand 24 x 7 establishment of interoperable communications at an incident site using voice over IP (VoIP) technologies. The solution is secure, resilient, turnkey, and deployable – and eliminates geography, terrain and vulnerable fixed infrastructure as barriers to communications.
ICE24 kits, delivered by Rivada and powered by Agito’s award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router for reliable high-quality VoIP, contain dual-mode (WiFi/Cellular) mobile devices, such as the Palm Treo Pro; WiFi access points for secure wireless communications; and a satellite dish for backhaul connectivity for communications outside the site. This new joint ICE24 solution leverages Rivada’s emergency response network Emergency Communications Partner roaming (ECProam) solution and Agito’s commercial RoamAnywhere mobile convergence VoIP product.

Now, Rivada’s Public Safety and Federal Emergency Response customers can instantly deploy ICE24 kits for on-demand, private communications, secured by AES technology. The mobile devices are active instantly over unlicensed WiFi, or public safety spectrum, and communicate with one another, as well as with other devices such as Land Mobile Radios, Personal Data Assistants, laptops, WiFi-enabled cellular phones, and satellite-enabled phones. The ICE24 solutions operate out of a hosted satellite teleport, and their unique architecture enables ubiquitous communication by connecting to the devices over a satellite connection.
