Paso Robles-based artist Dale Evers has announced a special week-long exhibition of his new Focus series of contemporary human figurative sculpture. The exhibition is scheduled to take place at Dale Evers’ Studio and Dragonfly Gardens (3055 Limestone Way, Paso Robles). To conclude the exhibition, an Artist’s Reception and special unveiling will be held on Saturday, December fifth at five in the evening. Complementary wine and appetizers will be served during the reception event and area artists will be in attendance.
After a career that began with a focus on marine life subjects and evolved into insects, Evers says that this exhibition marks his emergence from animal realms into celestial forms and modern human figurative work. With a basis in metaphor and the human form, he says his work now serves a more emotionally provocative narrative function.
“The Focus series is a story of overcoming adversity and it represents the epic human struggle,” says Evers, who notes that the theme has so inspired art patrons that they have purchased pieces from the series even prior to being cast in bronze. “Everyone is excited about the work—I think because the subject matter is so powerful and inspired by the journey of life.”
One such moving piece of work from Focus is “Black-Out,” an intense depiction of crucifixion which Evers likens to The Passion of the Christ for its poignant portrayal of the transcendent moment of overcoming. This and several other new sculptures will be on display throughout the exhibition, with a surprise unveiling of his latest piece to occur at the Artist Reception on December 5.
Evers—whose mixed media art has lured the likes of the United States Olympic Committee, Alaska Airlines, Hilton Hotels, and the Government of the Cayman Islands, and private collectors Robin Williams, William Shatner, Pierce Brosnan, and Patty Hearst, among others—expects that the depth of emotion expressed in the Focus series could attract an even larger audience of discerning art collectors and appreciators.
