This weekend, the Nanaimo North Town Centre will be filled with antique and collectible dealers from around the Island and beyond. Over 120 tables will be filled with a variety of treasures, including architectural items, coins and stamps, furniture, fine arts, china and a lot more!
On Saturday (December 5), join a host of antique appraisers - many from the Canadian Antiques Roadshow - to have your treasures appraised. Appraisals are $10 for the first piece and $5 for each subsequent piece.
"This is the first, and one of the largest, charitable fundraising appraisal events of the season", explains Elizabeth Campbell Duke of VanIsleAntiques.com, Vancouver Island's new on-line guide of antique shops, appraisers and events. "There are a number of antique appraisers on the Island who have been regulars on the Canadian Antiques Roadshow, and they are always happy to volunteer their time and expertise. This event is different from most because it also includes a weekend-long antiques and collectible fair. It's a perfect place to do your Christmas shopping.
This is the second year for the "Christmas of Hope", with last year's event raising over $7000 for the BC Cancer Foundation. The event has been coordinated by Finepoint Antiques, one of the Island's larger antique shops and the BC Cancer Foundation.
This year's event runs from Friday, December 4th, 2009 - Sunday, December 6th, 2009 during mall hours. (Friday, Dec 4 from 9:30am to 9:00pm, Saturday, Dec 5 from 9:30am to 5:30pm (Appraisals from 9:30 to 4:00), Sunday, Dec 6 11:00am to 5:00pm).
