Livedrive, an online storage, back-up and file-sharing service, today announced the release of Livedrive Backup, a revolutionary backup system that is completely invisible, unobtrusive and easy-to-use.
Livedrive Backup makes backing up data easier than ever. In addition to keeping a copy of files online, users can access their files online and download them on a local drive at any time. Unlike other solutions, Livedrive works in the background, continuously backing up all data without disturbing general use of the machine. Users need not schedule a time to back up their files, leave the machine on overnight, or even start backups manually.
“With Livedrive Backup, you just install it and you never need to worry about it ever again. You’re never disturbed by a ‘When do you want to run backup?’ prompt. Livedrive is also releasing a package called Livedrive Backup & Briefcase. This package includes all of the functionality of Livedrive Backup, but with the added benefits of Livedrive Briefcase – an advanced access-anywhere product. Livedrive Briefcase adds an L: drive to the user’s PC – any files they put there are stored on their hard drive, but are also copied online and can be accessed using any web browser. Briefcase users can view or edit their Office documents, play their music, watch their videos and view and touch up their photos right from a normal browser.
Livedrive Briefcase can even be installed on multiple PCs, meaning that users see the same files on every PC they work on.
Included in Livedrive Briefcase is a new music browser that lets users browse their entire music collections from the web by artist, album, genre and year. Any music they store on Livedrive Briefcase or Livedrive Backup is automatically analysed and indexed, so that users can easily view, queue and play music straight from their web browser.
Livedrive is based in the U.K. and launched in U.S. two months ago. Livedrive currently counts more than 300,000 paying customers globally and is targeting both small businesses and consumers. Livedrive Backup is £3.95 per month or £39.50 per year and the additional functionality provided by Livedrive Backup & Briefcase is £9.95 per month or £99.50 per year.
