Two weeks prior to his return to the US, the British born musician performed three songs from his latest Phat Bird Records release titled 'Suitcase' that will be available from all music download stores January 2010. At the final of the monthlong competition, Southway commented, "there was some really good talent this year. I was honored to be invited and very happy to go home with a prize". The annual event wraps up Southway's official engagements in Seoul though the singer claims, "I still have a few surprises left before I head back to the States".
Following a US promotion tour this fall with shows in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, the singer will return stateside next month, relocating from San Francisco, California to New Orleans, Louisiana. In a statement made about the move, he said, "Playing back in the states this fall really made me miss [the US] so I'm looking forward to the excitement of a new city, meeting new people, playing a lot of shows and really feeling what the city is about".
Southway's latest release, his third full length album, was released directly to the public via the artist's website and Facebook pages by use of pioneering 'Direct-to-Fan Platform' software from Nimbit.com. Launched in September this year, the Nimbit application allows fans to purchase and download music directly from their favorite artists. At the site's launch, Patrick Faucher, Nimbit's Chief Artist Advocate and CEO stated, "We've integrated deeply into the social fabric of Facebook so artists can market and sell to their fans in a completely natural and seamless way." Set to change the way that people purchase music in the future, Southway remarked that, "sites like Nimbit are great for new and independent artists that want to be able to connect with their fans without the hassles of dealing with huge corporations and middle men. I like the fact that I can make a song one day, upload it and make it available to those that want to listen the next day".
Southway will continue the promotion of 'Suitcase' next year with concert dates scheduled in Europe and the US as well as further performances in Asia. To view highlights of Southway's performance at RMT search 'southwaymusic' on youtube.
