Near the anniversary of its UK launch, Veeam Software, award-winning provider of systems management tools for VMware virtual datacenter environments, has announced the official launch of its groundbreaking Backup & Replication version 4 product. The latest version of the product is one of the first to market with full support for VMware vSphere and particularly VMware’s vStorage API for Data Protection. The advances in both Veeam Backup & Replication and in VMware vSphere have coincided to produce performance levels that have surprised many.
One UK financial sector customer commented “Veeam 4.0 is out, and it’s totally brilliant, they can do a case study any time they like. I’ve just backed up my 800gb main file server in 10 minutes, a competing product took 8-9 hours to do the same job, if it worked at all… I simply cannot believe how much difference there is between the two of them, and I believe that Veeam is cheaper? I’d do commercials for them I’m so impressed.”
“Reports like this suggest we are beginning to push the limits of surrounding technology, like the storage fabric,” said Northern EMEA Regional Director, Colin Fisher. “It’s hard to know where more performance will come from when the limiting factors are outside of our product, but we just keep charging forward and our customers seem to like what we are giving them. Being first with new technology is something we are getting known for.”
Veeam Backup & Replication 4.0 is priced at £439 per socket, which includes first year support and software maintenance, but Veeam have chosen to hold current pricing till the end of 2009, meaning the new product is still available at £365 per socket through year end. No other product provides both backup and virtual machine replication in one product, so Veeam claim Backup & Replication 4.0 is still the value leader as well as technology leader in virtual backup and replication.
